Well, hopefully you'll be happy to hear that we set the iguana free! After the guys found it and brought it back, they stuck it back in the bucket and our dalmation, Dewey, just sat there and barked at it ALL DAY. So when Eric got home that evening, and nobody came over to cook the poor thing, I demanded that we set it free. I did not want to continue to torture the little guy for no reason. So we all went on a walk down to the nearest area of dense vegetation and let it go. I am slightly disappointed that I won't be trying iguana meat (yet) but more happy for the little guy... he was so cute!

okay so I am a little disappointed we won't hear how iguana tasted. HA! Aww but glad that he is a happy iguana somewhere!
You have a strong sense of adventure if you were at all disappointed! :)
I'm so happy for the iguana, it was G-d's will that he not become dinner I guess! LOL
Oh, and I know about the internet going down, my internet did that last week. It was down the whole day on Thursday, and since we live in the middle of nowhere, it takes forever to get someone out here to fix it. But I took it as a sign from G-d that I have things in my "real" life that needed tending to, so he literally cut off my internet supply.
OK, I'm so glad to hear that he went free!! =)
Man! I have to say that the thing was really cute but I am not sure that I could have developed a relationship with it on a regular basis. I am glad that for your sake you did not have to "cook" it or "keep" it as a pet!
My wife and I are Peace Corps volunteers here in panama. FYI. Iguanas are listed as endangered in Panama and it is technically illegal to kill or capture them. People in our community hunt many endangered animals. Iguana tastes like chewy mild fish. A lot like alligator tail.

Actually, I am aware that it is illegal as iguanas are endangered. But the family who caught it for us lives in a metal shantie by a dirty creek, so I'm not about to tell them they can't catch and eat iguanas. As much as I love animals, these people need this as food...
Yippee for Mr. Iguana...I was feeling a bit bad for him!
I heard it taste like chicken but isn't what they say for bizarre foods? I promise I haven't eaten one, lol.
Glad to hear he was set free.
