Vegas Baby!

Just FYI- hotels on the strip in Vegas are really cheap right now (probably due to the 100 degree temps)! Eric and I are going next month when he gets home from Panama. I haven't been since high school, but I can't wait to show Eric the Coca-Cola Museum! You pay $2 for a small cup and then you can take coke right from the coke fountains and they have an international soda machine (at least that's what I remember).

Gambling? Nah. Coke Museum? Absolutely. Man, I sound dorky right now.

I also wanted to mention that I booked through expedia and used the code 10MAY to receive $10 off each night's stay... which made the already good deal just awesome. You have to use the code by May 31, but I am just so excited with myself for finding the code, and wanted to pass on the fun.

Hi Lindsay,
I see you're going to Vegas. If you are interested in a condo that's off the strip, I can try to book one for you. Since we own a timeshare, I'm able to book "getaways" for a great price. We're staying a week in Aug. for only $300. Let me know if I can help you.

Hi Linds....on t.v. last night. Vegas has an enormous problem with homeless people due to mnay factors...including the recession... visitor numbers way way down. It's a case of get ANYTHING you can for the rooms...people will probably gamble there so some money can be recovered. People being constantly moved from one area to another....it was devastating to watch. I love the buzz of the place and the FOOD. We may be staying for up to six weeks so who knows....just might get a couple of days there. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are SO cheap...almost free.
See you all soon....Shelley

Sorry to burst your bubble Linds, but the Coke fountain no longer exists. I was in Vegas a short while back and was so excited to take Jeff there and show him what I too remembered and to my utter dismay, it's been totally remodeled and is kind of lame. Instead of a fountain you pay a stupid amount of money for a tray of little taste tester cups of all the different Coca-Colas around the world and from what I remember, it's not even very clear which Coke is from where so the whole point of having some kind of cultural experience is removed. so you're left with just drinking a bunch of soda. sorry but I thought the let-down would be easier to handle before hand than, as in my case, feeling completely disillusioned as I walked around the place looking for it and asking an indifferent staff member about what happened to it.

Oh MAN! THAT TOTALLY STINKS! I am glad you broke the devastating news to me now, so that I can be emotionally prepared. So is it even worth going?

It's true, Lind. We were there two years ago and there was no fountain...but they had Black Coke that was made from espresso...it was interesting...

Anyway, you should check out the M&M factory...they have so many different kinds of M&Ms...yummy....

Honestly, I don't remember if it's worth going. The lack of a spraying soda fountain overshadowed everything else. But if I were you I'd go anyhow-might as well if you'll be on the strip. And that way you can make your peace with it too.

Lindsey,

I hadn't seen this yet. You are becoming a deal seeker!! Way to go and have fun. Aaron and I went 2 years ago new years day. We got front row tickets to Ka the Cirque Show on Ebay for $150.00 which sounds like a lot but it wasn't for that show. If you want to see something you might want to try ebay for tickets there are so many great shows. You will probably also be asked to go to Tahitian Village they want you to purchase a time share but it took 2 hours and we got free tickets to Lance Burton- a magician which was fun and a free buffet. It was worth the silly 2 hours. :)

Talk soon!

Oh the M&M's are fun and we also liked walking through some of the hotels they were beautiful!
